The Group is a professional research centre based in University of KwaZulu Natal’s School of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) which conducts innovative research projects on water resources, waste water reclamation, the impact of effluents on local environments, sanitation systems, and other water related environmental issues.

News from the Pollution Research Group

The Pollution Research Group (PRG) is housed in the basement of the Chemical Engineering building on the Howard College Campus and conducts research into the areas of water and sanitation. A key aspect of the success of this research is the close collaboration of the PRG with the Water and Sanitation Unit (EWS) within the eThekwini Municipality.

We are currently working on a number of projects funded by the WRC and are a a recipient of various Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grants. We recently signed a second Memorandum of Agreement with the eThekwini Water and Sanitation, to provide research support to their unit.
