Young Water Professionals Biennial Publications Workshop
22nd to 25th August 2016
The Young Water Professionals (YWP) biennial publications workshop was hosted by the Chemical Engineering Department, University of KwaZulu-Natal in conjunction with the Pollution Research Group on 22-25 August 2016. The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Gustaf Olsson, Professor Emeritus from the Lund University, Swedan. Prof. Olsson was a member of the IWA (International Water Association) Board of Directors from 2007-2010, receiving the IWA Publication Award in 2010. In 2014, he was appointed as Distinguished Fellow of the IWA. During the last six years he has been mentoring IWA Young Water Professionals from all continents to develop their scientific writing skills. The KZN YWP publications workshop was attended by 32 young water professionals from Umgeni Water, eThekwini Water and Sanitation, Durban University of Technology and UKZN students.
On 25 August 2016, Prof. Gustaf presented a guest seminar on "Smart Water Utilities - complexity made simple" based on his recently published book by IWA which was well attended by water professionals and academics from KZN.
