Bjoern Pietruschka holds a B.Eng in Bioprocess Engineering and an MSc in Biotechnology and applied Ecology. He has 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical research with specialization in human cell culture, experimental and diagnostic immunology. Busari has a PGD in Water Resources Engineering and M. Tech in Irrigation Engineering from Nigeria. He worked with Ministry of Agriculture as a Chief Irrigation Engineer with about 16 years of experience in the area of water resources. He was appointed as a National Consultant with UN FAO in 2013 on National Investment Profile (NIP) in Irrigation Projects across Nigeria. Busari is currently undergoing a PhD research in Irrigation Engineering with focus on investigating the effect of treated wastewater irrigation management on growth and yield parameters of madumbe (cocoyam) and rice in RSA. His supervisors are Dr. Senzanje Aidan of Bioresources Engineering (UKZN) and Dr. Odindo Alfred of Crop Science (UKZN).

Eva holds her BSc in Environmental Science and Chemistry and MSc in Chemistry. She has three years’ experience in the field of decentralized wastewater treatment systems carrying out applied research, capacity building programs and monitoring and evaluation of the treatment plants.

Her PhD research field is an inter disciplinary between water and sanitation and separation and analytical chemistry, focusing on up cycling of the chemical compounds from faecal sludge.

Enos has 15 years experience in Industrial Water and Wastewater Treatment (Physical-Chemical Treatment, Biological Treatment and Membrane Treatment). He is currently a Research Scientist within the Reseach & Technology-Coal and Environmental Research Group at Sasol. His PhD research is on Evaluation of Forward Osmosis Technology for the treatment of selected concentrated brines. The study is a collaboration between WRC/UKZN/Sasol.

Preyan holds a BSc Hons degree in Biological Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal focusing on marine taxonomy. In 2012, she graduated with an MSc in Biology and published four journal articles in Zootaxa. After a few years, she shifted her research interests to wastewater treatment and joined the Pollution Research Group in July 2015. Interested in cost-effective reliable solutions for domestic wastewater treatment, the focus of her Ph.D research is on a performance evaluation of vertical flow constructed wetlands in decentralised wastewater treatment systems (DEWATS) in South Africa.

Surabhi Srivastava holds a degree in BSc (Sciences), MSc (Environmental Sciences) and M.Tech (Environmental Engineering) from India. She lectured in wastewater treatment to Indian Universities and UNISA Pretoria. She is author of two scientific journal papers.
