Hope Rebekah Joseph obtained her degree in Civil Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal at the end of 2010. She was then appointed at EThekwini Water and Sanitation (EWS) as a Planning engineer and a part time MSc Eng student at UKZN. Some of her major tasks include the designing of water reticulation systems, modelling and analysing existing water networks, facilitating the provision of basic water and sanitation services to rural communities, managing the rainwater harvesting programme and forecasting the water demand for the city. In addition she supervises 4 technicians and 2 learner technicians at the municipality. She has recently began her MSc Eng part-time study to Develop and describe a suitable logistic collection system for urine harvesting in eThekwini.
