Khonzaphi is a holder of a BEng (Hons) degree from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Zimbabwe. After completion of his degree, he served two years as an Assistant Process Engineer responsible for the Ethanol plant at Tongaat Huletts (Zimbabwe). At present, Khonzaphi is pursuing an MScEng project with the Pollution Research Group, University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) which is funded by PRG through a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
